Top three reasons why I’m crushing on Cali-born singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat:
1. The No. 1 unsigned artist on MySpace for four successive months, she signed with a major but retained full creative control. As she put it, “There’s no point in them trying to change what you do because it’s already been tried and tested.” Smart girl!
2. Her bio describes her voice as “like sweet honey flowing over rocks.” I know, I know. But the girl actually sounds like she’s singing smiles. Yes, it sounds weird. Just listen to ‘Bubbly.’
3. She’s basically the female version of Jack Johnson — complete with the feel-good tunes and penchant for bare feet!
