International News: The globe gears up for Live Earth

A global series of concerts known as
Live Earth

will kick off in early July with the aim of increasing awareness of global warming, and lineup details for the US and UK shows are the first to be revealed. While local details have yet to be discussed, the concerts will begin on July 7th in Sydney and continue across seven different continents over 24 hours, concluding with the U.S. show.

Everybody’s favourite global warming campaigner
Al Gore

is vice president of the Live Earth board, and he says he is hoping the events will help jumpstart a massive public education effort. “Live Earth will help us reach a tipping point that’s needed to move corporations and governments to take decisive action to solve the climate crisis.”
