We all know that Pete Wentz likes to feel pretty. Hence, all the eyeliner, ass-hugging jeans and nail polish. But we didn’t truly understand how calculated the Fall Out Boy bassist’s primping was until we got hold of this month’s Advocate magazine.
“At some point when we were doing this band, I was like, ‘You know what? I’m going to be the most androgynous person that I can possibly be,’” he says in an exclusive interview with the gay-men’s magazine. ‘”I’m going to wear girl pants and makeup.’ I looked to David Bowie, Mick Jagger and people like that and I was like, ‘That’s what’s missing in all the bands that we’re playing with right now!’ You need the effeminate edge.’
Pete also went on to discuss the ambiguity of sexuality in general and admitted that he has enjoyed making out with men — but draws the line at doing anything with dudes below the belt. (Hmmm…think he and Patrick ever sucked face before a show?)
Certainly, rock dudes have been wearing mascara and making out long before Pete got popular — but what do you think about this revived trend? Hot? Not? Any guyliner guys out there wanna get Pete’s back?
